Music has always been a part of the worship of God, even in the earliest Old Testament times. The Hebrews worshipped God with tambourine, cymbals, horns, lyre and other stringed instruments, and of course, with singing. The Psalms are full of amazing worship songs. Songs that offer praise and prayer to God, and express the love, anguish, joy, despair, and repentance of King David and others of his people. Music is God's perfect creation and He blesses His people with the gift of music so that we may offer praises to Him. But it's not about the music itself; it is the music of our hearts given over to abandoned worship that God longs to hear. And that is our desire and our joy - to offer abandoned worship to God.
"I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High." Psalm 9:2 NKJV
The worship ministry at Calvary The Cross exists to serve the Lord by serving His people and creating an atmosphere that God can use to bring His people into His presence. Our desire is to bring glory to God through the gifts he has given to us and through the power of His Holy Spirit prepare the hearts and minds of His people to hear His Word. It is also our desire to live lives that are honoring to God and that our everyday lives reflect the love and grace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
“All nations whom You have made shall come and worship before You, O Lord, And shall glorify Your name. For You are great, and do wondrous things; You alone are God.” Psalm 86:9-10 NKJV
